Perform Art College brings you this unique one-year training program to bridge the gap between your studio training and a professional career in dance teaching. There are two program focuses available. Program one is for the student with a strong classical ballet background. Our program prepares students for acceptance onto a teaching certification program, culminating in becoming a teacher. Program two is designed for those with a solid general dance style background and prepares students for a career teaching a variety of styles. Students who choose program two may also have the option of preparing for the I.S.T.D. teaching qualification. Curriculum:
This program offers a broad based curriculum of practical dance studies, Classical Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical and Conditioning as well as teaching studies and dance syllabus study. Perform Art College believes, to maximize career prospects, students should have a well rounded education and therefore we offer the option of college level courses in Child Psychology, Anatomy, English or ESL and Theatre Techniques. 1. Do I need R.A.D or I.S.T.D training to apply for this program? No, students with equivalent training may apply. We can assist in taking appropriate dance exams if need be.
2. What if I have previous qualifications or professional experience? Accredited prior learning and experience will be assessed and may exempt you from a portion of study. 3. How flexible is the training? We realize some students may need to work while studying. Our training can be adjusted to suit the needs of the individual student.
4. Why are teaching qualifications necessary? In such an expanding field with jobs available internationally, qualifications are essential as well as an expectation of today’s dance teachers! Qualifications assure parents, students and schools that you have undergone the necessary training to competently teach students.
